Wellspring Ministries International

Our Mission

The mission of Wellspring Ministries International is to facilitate holistic development of individuals and entire communities among some of the poorest and most vulnerable peoples of Africa.  We seek to serve people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender to help children, families and communities overcome poverty and oppression.  We want to promote and transform their wellbeing through acts of love that inspire hope while encouraging them to reach their full God-given potential. Currently, we are implementing this mission in the southern region of Senegal working with the Mandinka people.

Our Motivation

Jesus reached out in countless acts of love to people during his time on Earth, meeting people’s needs as He taught and shared the truth.  His life, His atoning death and His resurrection was the ultimate act of love -- it still inspires hope in people and leads them to faith in Him.  We are the body of Christ.  We are an extension of his hands, feet and mouth and we are called to express His love to the people of this world by meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs in the name of Jesus so that they might come to know Him.

Our Method

Wellspring has chosen to pursue strategies that use appropriate technologies and available local resources to implement sustainable development programs that can inspire hope for a brighter future, one that makes it possible for people to meet the challenges and opportunities of their lives with determination and self-sufficiency.

Wellspring supports long-term as well as short-term development activities.  Wellspring has been working in Senegal since 2003 and has previously supported short-term projects in Kenya and Romania.

Malaria is rampant in Senegal and many Mandinka people die every year because they do not have the money to buy medicine.  People are very poor and jobs are scarce.
  • $15.00 buys enough medicine to cure someone sick with Malaria.
  • $21.00 provides a week's wages for a woman at the cashew factory
  • $50.00 buys rice to feed a family for two months
